Timothée also played a key role in France's qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup (1-0 against China), a first for Les Bleus. He is now aiming to shine on the pitch at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

He reached new heights by becoming world vice-champion in Turkey in 2016 and winning the bronze medal at the Euro for the deaf and hard of hearing in 2019. Renaud takes part in competitions for the deaf and hard of hearing as well as able-bodied competitions.

Sébastien Carabin is a versatile athlete and XTERRA champion.

After excelling in mountain biking, where he was crowned Belgian Junior Mountain Bike Champion in 2007, he turned his attention to marathon and trail running. He won the Belgian Elite Marathon Championship in 2014 and 2019. In 2019, Sébastien discovered XTERRA, a discipline combining trail running, mountain biking and swimming, and made a name for himself in these three sporting disciplines. Since then, he has travelled the world taking part in some of the world's top competitions. Just this year, he was crowned World Cross-Duathlon Champion in Ibiza.

Despite his constant travelling, his work and his commitment as a fireman, Sébastien still finds time to visit the Granaline team. He takes the opportunity to fill up on vitality with his favourite products, including Limone & Zenzero BIO (lemon-gimgmber) and Aranciata Rossa BIO (blood orange), two delicious sparkling BIO drinks made with PDO Sicilian citrus fruits. And let's not forget the pure Granaline organic pomegranate juice that he drinks to help himself recover after a tough competition.

The benefits of pomegranate for our sports ambassadors

Pomegranate and its juice are full of benefits for our sports ambassadors
Pomegranates and their benefits help our ambassadors

For our sports ambassadors, pomegranate juice is not just a tasty treat on a daily basis, it's also an essential ally during the recovery phase. But what are these benefits?

Pomegranates are renowned for their high levels of antioxidants such as polyphenols and vitamin C. After intensive training sessions, sports recovery is essential. The antioxidants in pomegranates help to soothe the effects of oxidative stress generated by exercise, contributing to faster muscle recovery.

But that's not all: pomegranates have another major advantage. Its potassium content is invaluable in compensating for the losses associated with physical exertion. Particularly in hot weather, a lack of potassium can cause unpleasant muscle cramps. Pomegranates are a natural choice for preventing these discomforts. Did you know that our organic pomegranate juice with no added sugar contains 994 mg potassium/100ml?

In addition, a scientific study (1) has been carried out to explore the impact of pomegranate on the endurance capacity of athletes.

Thirty amateur endurance cyclists took part in the study. These amateur cyclists trained two to four times a week. They were divided into two groups and, for 15 days, took 750 mg daily of a pomegranate extract containing 30% punicalagins or a placebo. The participants then followed a programme of endurance and strength exercises to assess the effect of the supplementation. Then, after a 15-day interruption, the same procedure was repeated, but with the treatments switched.

The results were remarkable: supplementation with pomegranate significantly increased the time taken for fatigue to appear during a long-duration endurance run. They also achieved a higher ventilatory threshold during long-duration endurance exercise. This translates into enhanced maximal and submaximal performance.

In addition, pomegranate promoted faster recovery of muscular strength after exercises that had caused lesions. (2)

So our sports ambassadors Timothée, Renaud and Sébastien can count on pomegranate to support them in their quest for excellence.
